Start-Up Process
We make basement development smooth, transparent, and stress-free by clearly outlining every step from day one. Our goal is to keep you informed and confident throughout the journey.
Finalize Estimate
After our initial consultation, we’ll create a detailed floor plan and quote tailored to your needs. You’ll receive everything to review and approve before we move forward.
Project Start & Selections
As work begins, we maintain regular communication to keep you updated. While some design selections are locked in early, others will be finalized during the project to ensure the best fit as your basement takes shape.
Final Review
Once you approve the proposal, we’ll sit down to go over the full estimate, drawings, and schedule. This ensures everyone is on the same page and any adjustments are made before we begin construction.
The Build
At AJ Construction Canada, we’ve simplified the basement development process into three clear stages—so you always know what’s happening, what’s next, and when it’s done.
Pre-Construction & Rough-In
We begin by protecting your home and preparing the site. This includes setting house rules, installing hoarding, and making sure no part of your property is damaged during construction. We pull all necessary permits and deliver framing and other materials to the site to kick things off.
Construction
This phase starts with framing and structural work, followed by electrical and plumbing rough-ins. Each step is approved through on-site city inspections. Then, drywall is installed, taped, mudded, and sanded to a level 4 finish. Ceiling textures are applied, doors and windows are framed and installed, and trim is added. We spray all casings and apply the first coat of paint. A mid-project walkthrough ensures everything is on track.
Final Touches
Here’s where your basement truly comes to life. We install flooring, tiles, light fixtures, switches, plugs, and bathroom vanities. Final coats of paint are applied, and last inspections are completed. After a professional cleaning and one final walkthrough with you, your newly finished basement is ready to enjoy.
